The 2007 Rising Radio Revenues Of Canadian Canada’s 619 commercial private radio stations saw total revenues rise 6.2% to C$1.5 billion in 2007, according to figures just released by the CRTC.
Local ad revenue increased 4.8% to C$1.087 billion, with national ad revenue up 8.3% to C$380.6 million. Profits for the stations also increased 5.5% to C$300.2 million. Profit margins slipped from 20.11% to 19.99%.
Looking at FM, revenue increased to C$1.1 billion, with English stations getting C$947.5 million and French stations up to $209 million and ethnic stations up to C$16.1 million. AM station revenues rose to C$291.7 million, with French stations declining to C$15.9 million.
The stations employ over 10,000 people with a total salary pool of C$606,952,639.
